The lyrics speak of sin's dreadful effect on the human race and how Jesus has come to redeem and free us from it and Satan's reign, by His perfect sacrifice, giving us new life and a perfect hope and future to experience and look forward to. In Romans 11:25-36, Paul writes to the Christians in Rome to clarify the mystery that God has called both Jews and Gentiles to Himself and shown them grace and mercy, in His wisdom. It ends with a doxology that praises God for His unfathomable wisdom in extending His mercy to all who would believe.

Indeed we are all sinners who deserve judgement and the wrath of God. But God is His manifold wisdom provided His only begotten Son, Jesus, to redeem us from sin and death, through His sacrifice and blood. Such is the wisdom, grace and power of our God - all glory be forever!
