Thank You Lord by Dan Burgess

A worship song composed by Dan Burgess. In Romans 7:18-25, Paul writes a discourse about struggling with sin. He starts with the premise that we are sinful beings, and that nothing good live in us (v.18). There is a war waging within our souls - a war between us wanting to do good, and the evil we keep doing (v.19). It seems that we are hopeless prisoners to this law of sin working within us (v.23). But thanks be to God for rescuing us from this body of death through Jesus Christ (v.24-25)!

Indeed when we face trials, our human nature tends towards responding in an ungodly way - to curse God and die (Job 2:9), so to speak. However, we have been justified through Christ (Romans 5:1)! Our response should be to rely on the Holy Spirit to rejoice in our sufferings, for it produces perseverance, character, and a hope that does not disappoint (Romans 5:3). We thank you Lord!
